Zimbabwe vs Netherlands T20 World Cup 34th Match Preview:

Zimbabwe will want more regularity from captain Craig Ervine and Sean Williams, two of the team’s most experienced players. They have been dismissed for seven single-digit runs in 12 innings since arriving in Australia, and Zimbabwe is hoping they can produce when it counts.

Only twice in this competition have the Netherlands’ bowlers surrendered more than 160 runs. Bas de Leede has nine wickets at 14.44, while Paul van Meekeren isn’t far behind with seven at 19.42 and a superb economy of 5.66. De Leede will turn 23 in a few days and van Meekeren will age 30 in January, but the Netherlands hopes that these two can continue to serve them in the same capacity for many years to come.

Zimbabwe utilized 13 players in the Super 12s, with only one change to their bowling lineup. They wouldn’t want to make too many changes to what appears to be a stable team, with the main decision being who to leave out in case Luke Jongwe is recalled.

With little to lose, the Netherlands may give starter Stephan Myburgh another chance, given that this may be his final tournament. De Leede was replaced against Pakistan after getting struck in the eye during batting and may not play on Wednesday.

Zimbabwe and the Netherlands will enter the game with opposing intentions but extremely comparable strengths. These two teams have lined up with a slew of outstanding pacers who have taken wickets in a World Cup dominated by fast bowlers. In Adelaide, the day game may come down to which set outbowls the other.

Craig Ervine Says: “The real highlight for us would be to make the semis. I think that would really put the icing on the cake. The guys are still very positive that we’ll get there. We’ve just got to come into these last two games with a lot of energy.”

Logan van Beek Says: “The novelty [of making it to Super 12s] has kind of worn off now after the first three games. We haven’t put in a complete performance in these three games, and so the guys are determined to change that when it comes to these last two matches and walk away with at least one win, but hopefully two wins.”
