After the 2023 IPL, Wasim Jaffer will replace MS Dhoni as the captain of CSK

Wasim Jaffer, a former India opener and the newly hired batting coach of Punjab Kings (PBKS), has chosen a surprising replacement for MS Dhoni as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Four-time winners Chennai Super Kings (CSK) slammed the panic button following a poor start in the opening round of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 with newly-appointed skipper Ravindra Jadeja at the wheel. The Yellow Brigade was commanded by experienced gloveman MS Dhoni for the remainder of the season after Jadeja’s performance suffered a severe setback. Moving ahead to the present, the flamboyant coach of the Super Kings will take the helm of the Jadeja-starrer team in the upcoming campaign, which many anticipate to be his final appearance in the Indian Premier League.

With his “everything is good” statement and his attention on the “restart,” Jadeja applauded CSK for keeping their highest-paid player for the IPL 2023. It would be interesting to see if Jadeja is still a strong contender to captain the CSK team despite giving up the position in the previous season to concentrate on his own performance. As past IPL captains who are free agents are making their way to the mini-auction, CSK are also anticipated to keep an eye on expensive choices like Kane Williamson and Mayan Agarwal.

Wasim Jaffer, a former Indian opener, announced his unexpected choice to succeed Dhoni as CSK’s new captain and encouraged Ruturaj Gaikwad to run for the position in the next seasons of the lucrative league. “I believe they will continue with Devon Conway as their wicketkeeper. He is following in line. MS may also have a look at someone else. I’m not sure who will be doing it. They will likely be watching the CSK leader who will succeed Dhoni, in my opinion.

CSK is anticipated to fill the two abroad seats at the mini-auction next month with the remaining INR 20.45 crore in its budget. Ahead of the mini-auction, the Dhoni-led CSK team released players including Dwayne Bravo, Robin Uthappa, Adam Milne, Hari Nishaanth, Chris Jordan, Bhagath Varma, KM Asif, and Narayan Jagadeesan. For the next season, CSK has kept Indian talents Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Tushar Deshpande, Mukesh Chowdhary, and Subhranshu Senapati.

The last season they will play under Dhoni is this one, therefore I hope these players get a chance. Therefore, you want them to have a successful season. Improve your game and perhaps carry the heritage forward. Therefore, these Indian men must rise up. Dube had played for a few seasons. However, neither Hangargekar nor Subhranshu have participated in any games. However, you want these players to move beyond Dhoni and pick up the skills necessary to improve as players, as we have seen with Chahar, Gaikwad, and all the others who have grown. With this franchise, I hope to see the emergence of young Indian talent in the IPL, Jaffer says.
